I used to be a very impatient man. This all changed when I started my own business. I'll tell you why.
I learnt very quickly that there were no shortcuts in life, you just have to put in the hours, put in the work, learn from your mistakes, and constantly be improving.
This became super clear after helping the first few businesses with their marketing.
Many of them wanted results. And of course I wanted to get them results.
But it became very obvious that it takes time before you get it right. You have to test, gather data, adjust things.
Could be testing different advertising platforms, different audiences, headlines, offers, or response mechanisms.
Then you've gotta consider what creative type to use; videos, images, carousels, text.
There's an unlimited number of combinations when you consider all these things.
And this is exactly why I became a patient person. Sometimes things I did got results day 1, other times it took a while to dial in and get results.
This is when reality sunk in and I realised, in a lot of cases, at the beginning, it's going to cost you more than you make. But if you know what you're doing, persist, eventually it'll be around the other way, and you'll make more than you spend.
And that's exactly what happened for me and many of my clients.
Take me as an example, I was running ads on LinkedIn for 3 months, spent 6k. It wasn't until the 4th month that I finally got my first deal. And it was one of the people from month 2.
Wasn't enough to cover what I'd spent but the next month, closed another deal, managed to upsell the first client to do more, closed another, and after 6-7 months, I had finally broken even.
Want to guess my position 12 months after starting?
I'm at about a 3.4x ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) from my total investment.
This didn't happen overnight and I'm glad I was patient.
I would have never got to this point if I wasn't looking at it every day, learning, adjusting, and not stopping when I thought it was failing because I hadn't closed a deal in months.
The key takeaway from my story is this.
If you've done little to no marketing for your business, likelihood is it'll take some time to get it right.
Buttttt, if you're committed to growing your business and have the right people focused on getting you results, I can assure you, it'll pay off and you'll be thankful you took action, and invested.
