If you're reading this it means you run a business. This is weird behaviour. Most people are content working for a boss.
Had a flashback to a time, when some guy asked me: 'I don't get it. You won't get sick leave, a holiday, and you'll be working all the time, so why would you run your own business? Why not just go work for a boss?'
This was not that long ago. And to be completely honest with you, I had a stable job and that very same question had come to mind for me as well.
Why do I do this? Why not just go work for a boss?
To this day I can't really give you a solid answer. If you have a great answer to the question of: "Why do you want to work for yourself instead of a boss, assuming you'd make similar money and get 4 weeks of holidays each year?".
Best thing I managed to come up with? You and I are just built different.
People that enjoy working for a company and getting a salary are on one side of the fence. You and I are on the other side of the fence. And neither of us wants to switch sides.
It's all good. You have to be a little different to start a business, run a business, go through the entire adventure from start to (eventually) finish.
Running a business ain't easy but we still do it day in and day out.
So on this awesome day... I salute you!
Talk soon,
Adir
P.S. Last time I spoke to the guy that asked me the question, he told me he was working 2 jobs, 7 days a week, and I can only imagine how little he saw his family. I don't know if he's still doing this but I must admin I remembered him while writing this email. And I thought: "there goes your fabled work/life balance".
Petty? Yes.
But I regret nothing :-D
