Since starting to help businesses with their marketing. I've worked out that it is super easy to beat their competition.
How you may ask...
It's super simple, come up with a strategy that follows the Pareto principle (80% of results come from 20% of causes).
If you've done little or not marketing before, you don't want to just do everything on day one, you're bound to fail. Because you won't do even 5% of it properly.
Instead, start with a few things and get those right. Plug the holes in your processes, bring in some new clients in the meanwhile. Dial in what you're doing and then move onto the next thing.
I've helped many local businesses get on a path to growing their business beyond just their network and referrals.
Maybe you start by posting twice a week on social media, do some direct response marketing to get leads, send some emails to your list, and fix your sales and follow up processes so you're making the most of every lead.
Then once that's humming, introduce a multi-channel marketing strategy, Google, YouTube, Meta etc. Expand your social media strategy onto more platforms and post more often with a variety of content.
Sounds simple but it really does require constant focus and energy to make sure that every day, week, month, and year things are improving, you're moving the needle, and actually getting somewhere.
While there's no cheat code to skip steps, what I can tell you is with the right strategy, eventually, things will fall into place, they'll click, and you'll look at your P&L and go:
"Yep, it was all worth it"
